Random Project of the Week - New watercolor set = new paintings

I painted these pieces last week with my new set of Sennelier La Petite Aquarelle watercolors along with my Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pens. The butterfly is a Viceroy and the bird is a Ring-necked Pheasant.

I know I just bought the pocket set of Winsor and Newton Cotman watercolors, but I decided that I wanted more colors, so I went with this set of 24 half pans by Sennelier after seeing some good reviews online. I have enjoyed using them for these random projects and in my new watercolor journal...although, being a watercolor newbie, I can't say I'm very good at it yet!

Portrait of Sasquatch the cat

I think it's time for me to put down the brush and call Sasquatch's portrait finished!

Below on the left is the original photo that I worked from. The client sent me a couple other photos of Sasquatch which enabled me to paint him closer to his actual colors. On the right is a close-up...lots of little brushstrokes!

Sasquatch's portrait nearly finished!

Just the ears and whiskers to go...plus some touch-ups.

Below is the tiny brush I'm using to get the fine detail and some of the colors that have gone into Sasquatch's portrait.

Sasquatch update

Another Sasquatch sighting! 😀 I got a lot done today, mostly around his face and on the blanket.

First stages of Sasquatch

New commissioned piece in progress - an 8" X 10" acrylic painting of a much-loved cat named Sasquatch. I have the block-in done and I'm ready to start adding detail. I'm really liking the dark shadows in this portrait.
