After months of sketching, drawing, and painting, my first calendar is finally finished!
I had so much fun creating the 12 watercolor bird illustrations for this calendar. I intentionally chose some species that are perhaps not the first that come to mind when one thinks of New England. I painted each of the species in the habitat and season I associate them with.

This month I am taking on the BIRDTOBER challenge! BIRDTOBER is an
art challenge hosted by

I am working in mixed media for this challenge, specifically watercolors with

area. The first week GSChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17869798257578071700noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7932810577171137590.post-56205712603328952192022-09-20T12:49:00.013-04:002022-09-20T13:19:59.487-04:00Painterly chicken portraits
These fun portraits of a couple of my pet chickens are done on
watercolor paper. Paper is not my usual surface for acrylics
as it is more of a challenge to work on than canvas and has a much different
texture, but ever since I started my mixed media sketchbook it has grown on
me.
