Pictures in the sky

If you are having a hard time thinking of what to draw (and you really feel like drawing), look at the clouds! That's what I did here. This Afghan Hound cartoon was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this cloud from my window. I call the Afghan Hound "Sammy".

As you might have guessed, I took a short break from painting this week.

I started back up on my goat painting this afternoon. I worked on James's neck, his ears, and his nose. I still have his mouth and most of his head to add detail to.

  

It's getting there!

Day three of "James LaBrie"

One ear is done. Soon I'll paint the other one. :]

Starting on another painting... finally.

Yesterday I started on the last of my set of three 8" X 10" paintings for the kitchen. I am painting another Nubian goat of mine named James LaBrie.

Happy 9th, Baxter!

Ever since he was a puppy, Baxter the Boxer has been the subject of many of my drawings and paintings. I improved my dog-drawing skills by watching him sleep, play, and eat, and I continue to do so. Here are some of the Baxter portraits I have done throughout his nine years.

Here is the second of the three 8" X 10" paintings all finished and ready for varnish!

The sheep is a very friendly Katahdin ewe named Muffin.

Cartoons!

  

Sometimes you just feel like taking it easy, and, for an artist like me, that means making cartoons. Nothing has to be perfect! What a relief!

I will often draw animal cartoons when I'm bored. I drew the dog on the top right while waiting at the dentist's office. :)

This is an earlier painting of mine, so I did not paint it the way I would nowadays (I am always improving my method).

I've been painting a lot lately!

Here is another painting I finished last month. It was my first commissioned piece. :)
