Hi WatercolorPets! Most of my ideas seem to just pop into my head, but, of course, other artists' work has some influence on me. I usually begin with a sketch, and sometimes I'll sketch a few different versions with different features and choose which one I like best. I'll study photos in books or online of the particular breed I'm drawing to make sure I get the shape, markings, and colors correct.
How do you decide what the caricature should look like before drawing?
